My name is Joshua, and here is my Exchanged Life story. From a very young age, I was acutely aware that I was different. The rejection I faced in my childhood was relentless and soul-crushing. At school, I was often the target of cruel teasing and isolation. My peers saw me as an outsider, someone who didn’t belong. The emotional scars ran deep and followed me into my adolescence. I spent countless nights questioning my worth and place in this world, grappling with feelings of abandonment and loneliness.
 
Despite the turmoil, there was always a glimmer of hope within me, a faint whisper that there was more to life than the pain I was experiencing. This whisper grew louder as I stumbled upon IOM America and its Christ-as-Life discipleship program, the Identity Matters study. Skeptical yet desperate for change, I decided to give it a try. From navigating the highs and lows, to cherishing moments of joy and overcoming challenges, every experience has shaped me into the person I am today. As I look back, I feel immense gratitude for the lessons learned and the countless memories created along the way. Here's to celebrating a life well-lived and embracing the future with hope and resilience.

SEEKING PRAISE & APPROVAL FROM OTHERS

When indwelt believers seek praise and approval from others rather than from God and Yeshua, they risk shifting their focus from spiritual dependence to worldly validation.
The pursuit of human approval can lead to compromise, where faith becomes more about external recognition than genuine devotion. This can breed pride, insecurity, and even deception, as believers tailor their actions to impress others rather than walk in obedience to God’s will. Over time, reliance on earthly affirmation can weaken spiritual discernment, making it harder to distinguish between God’s truth and fleeting human opinions.
Jesus Himself warned against seeking the approval of man over the approval of God, emphasizing that true reward comes from the Father. The greatest danger is that misplaced validation can lead believers to distance themselves from authentic faith, replacing worship with performance rather than heartfelt surrender.

SETTING STANDARDS ON SELF, OTHERS, & GOD

JENNY'S STORY | MY EXCHANGED LIFE STORY
My name is Jenny and here is my story of discovering the indwelling Life of Yeshua.
For years, I lived in the shadows of a troubled marriage, burdened by the weight of unresolved conflicts and the pain of unspoken words. My husband and I had drifted apart, our love eroded by time and the relentless tide of life's challenges. We were strangers sharing a home, our souls yearning for connection but trapped in a cycle of hurt and disappointment.
Through this empowering experience, my husband and I renewed our vows and started a marriage home study for other couples. We made a commitment to put Christ at the center of our marriage, allowing His love to heal the wounds of our past and be committed to give Yeshua to others. We learned to communicate openly and honestly, to forgive one another, and to extend grace in times of conflict.

STEALING THE ROLE OF GOD

Many believers in Yeshua may inadvertently attempt to steal the role of God by functioning in Godship, playing God in their lives and the lives of others. This often manifests as trying to control outcomes, dictate others' paths, or assume responsibility for things beyond their human capacity. While their intentions might stem from a desire to help or protect, this behavior can lead to a lack of trust in God's sovereignty and His perfect plan.
True faith calls for surrendering to Adonai's will, acknowledging His supreme authority, and allowing His guidance to lead us. By recognizing our limitations and embracing our role as His servants, we can experience the peace and assurance that comes from trusting in His divine wisdom and timing.
